Massage has so many wonderful benefits for the mind, body and soul. Many people see massage as a luxury to have once in a while but there are so many benefits to incorporating regular massage into your life including:
A gentle type of massage used to relax the body and mind. It’s a great introduction to massage if you’ve not had a treatment before, or if you are sensitive to touch. It works on the superficial layers of muscles in the body and is great for reducing tension, knots, stress and anxiety.
This type of massage utilises a deeper level of pressure which helps to target the inner layers of muscles. It can be really helpful in treating muscle pain, reducing stiffness, helping with recovery after exercise, increasing the mobility of joints and with sciatica.
Suitable from 12 weeks and incorporating gentle stretching and light massage to help relax the body and release oxytocin (the love hormone). The abdomen is not massaged as part of this treatment and the massage is provided in a side lying position with pillows for support where needed. It can also help with a number of pain related issues experienced during pregnancy such as sciatica, lower back pain, rip pain, swollen feet and ankles and leg cramps
Fascia is the web of connective tissue that surrounds all the muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and bones. Restrictions in the fascia can cause pain to manifest in the body and can often be as a result of a physical trauma (such as an accident, injury or surgery) or as a result of an emotional response that has left an imprint in the physical body or energy field. Myofascial release helps to unlock restrictions in the fascial web to help rebalance the mind – body connection. It can be really helpful for treating the pain associated with fibromyalgia and is an incredibly relaxing treatment.
Is undertaken in a seated position and works on the head, neck, shoulders, arms and face. Using acupressure points on the face and head, it’s a great treatment for relaxation and works well for treating tension, headaches (including migraines) and stress including anxiety.
